Looking forward to baron rating Quantum ales

I don't know that much about Quantum Brewing Co. other than following them on twitter (@QuantumBC) a while back and occasionally seeing the rather sleek "Q" logo pop into my twitter stream. I did read about Quantum's SK1 via Alebagger's Beer Blog a collaboration beer brewed with Colin Stronge of Marble (now with Black Isle).

Last weekend I was tweeting to various people about meeting up in Manchester to visit the newly opened BrewDog bar (more on that in another post) and up popped a tweet from Quantum's owner and head brewer Jay Krause saying that he would drop some samples off at the bar for me:

Quantum Brewing Company
  • American Amber Ale -5.3% hoppy amber ale, generously hopped at all times during brewing with US hops. The beer comes out with 63 IBUs to complement the 5 UK malts
  • SK1 - 7.4% strong amber barleywine, generously hopped with nelson sauvin, super alpha, motueka & dry hopped with super alpha
I got to try the American Amber Ale on cask at Port Street Beer House that day and it was really really good so I'm extremely pleased to have a bottle of it awaiting review.

I've also just read a lovely detailed review of Quantum SK1 on broadfordbrewer's blog which has got me excited about that one too!

Look out for baron ratings for these Quantum Brewing Company beers soon, and a big thank you to Jay Krause (@QuantumBC) for handing them over  to me!
