Looking forward to baron rating these ales from Ales By Mail

Ales By Mail have been a big supporter of The Ormskirk Baron from pretty much the beginning, sending me boxes of interesting beer from time to time. I was very excited when a large box arrived this week, here's what was in the box:

  • Bevog Kramah -7% India Pale Ale (such a cool label)
  • Founders Dirty Bastard - 8.5% Scotch style ale
  • Rocky Head Bam! - 7% beer, Belgian techniques, American IPA hopping
  • Rocky Head  Imitera IPA -7.2% beer, the mother of modern Greek. This is our flagship IPA
Bear Republic Brewing Co.
  • Black Racer IPA - 8.1%. Blends Bear Republic's love of hops with the Pacific Northwest's appreciation for dark ales
  • Hop Rod Rye [baron rating 5/5] - 8% high performance, alcohol burnin' monster ale with dual overhead hop injection, made with 18% rye
  • Red Rocket Ale [baron rating 5/5] - 6.8% bastardized Scottish style red ale packed with distinctive flavors and an aggressive hop character rivaled by none

Beavertown Brewery

Weird Beard Brew Co.
  • Fade To Black - 7.2% black IPA, darker than a Metallica album cover and hoppier than a frog that has just dropped a keg on his foot, this beer has a fascinating interplay between the fruity hops, dark toasted notes from the malt and the spicy rye
  • Five o'Clock  Shadow - 7.1% American IPA, the real Desperate Dan of the beer world, hoppy, uncompromising and goes well with a cow pie
  • Holy Hoppin' Hell! -9.6% Double IPA, Hoppier than a (insert joke here), and bitter as... Blah blah, just drink it!
  • Shark Biscuit -7.2% Australian IPA, brewed with Galaxy hops and a bit of Carared malt to give a nice "Australian Gold" colour
Look out for 'baron ratings' of these beers soon, and a big thank you to Paul Kruzycki from Ales By Mail for sending these through to me!
